The most popular variety, the Charlotte!

Presentation: 

Charlotte potato  is a very productive semi-early French variety. It is also resistant to late blight. The Charlotte is a potato of oblong shape, regular, with yellow skin and flesh. 

The Charlotte has very good culinary qualities and offers a good resistance to cooking. Versatile, it is cooked in sautéed potato , steamed, chips or gratin.

Planting :

Charlotte potatoes  are planted in spring when the soil is warmed, at least 10°C to avoid frosts. Tubers should be planted 15 cm deep, each 40-50 cm apart, in furrows 60-70 cm apart.

When they reach 25 cm high, it is necessary to make a mound. This operation avoids the greening of the tubers which makes them unfit for consumption.

Harvesting and conservation :

Charlotte  potato is harvested in dry weather 90-120 days after planting.  

The potatoes should be allowed to dry for a few hours before returning them to a cool, frost-free place, away from light. A cellar is ideal. It is also important to regularly check the health status of tubers and remove those that are damaged or moldy. Also remove germs as they grow during storage.
