Origin and characteristics :

Monalisa  is a variety of potato originating in the Netherlands listed in the French catalogue since 1982. Monalisa  produces an oblong tuber of regular shape with yellow skin and flesh. Monalisa  is rich in carbohydrates, iron and potassium. It has a very good yield and is resistant to late blight.

At maturity, the plant is 50 cm high and span of 30 cm. It produces divided light green leaves and small white flowers.

Planting and Harvesting: 

For a good crop, the planting of Monalisa potato is carried out after frosts when the soil temperature is around 10 ° C. The potato appreciates rich soils. The location should be sunny and the soil deep, fertile and loose.

When the seedling is 20 cm tall, it is necessary to butter the potatoes. The mounding prevents the potatoes from being exposed to light, which would make them green and unfit for consumption. It will be necessary to repeat the mounding two weeks after having carried out the first one.
