Altesse is a regular potato, elongated in shape, its skin and flesh are yellow. The eyes are superficial to very superficial. This variety can be harvested as early as 70 days after planting.


Its yield and precocity are equivalent to that of the Charlotte but its conservation is better. The major asset of this early variety is the combination of good conservation with very good productivity.

Origin and Presentation

Obtained by GROCEP, the variety Altesse was registered in the French official catalog in 2000.


It is appreciated for its hardiness, good productivity, as well as for its long conservation. 


Botanical description

Tubers: elongated and regular, with yellow skin and yellow flesh. 


Eyes: very superficial to very superficial, which facilitates peeling.


Agronomic characteristics

Precocity: early to half-early, harvest possible from 85 days for new potatoes, up to 115 days for storage tubers. 


Yield: approximately equivalent to the Charlotte, with a slightly better productivity according to several sources. 


Conservation: excellent storage capacity—can be kept for more than 7 months in good conditions.


Culinary use

Flesh: firm and yellow, with a remarkable hold during cooking—no blackening after cooking. 


Versatile cuisine: ideal for steamed dishes, stir-fries, salads, gratins or field dresses (potatoes in a field dress).
